The back cover is a sheet of Davey board. The front cover has three small insets for the pictures of Dieter and Kristina. The pictures are set in so that the album can be pulled and pushed on and off the shelf without having to worry (as much) about the photographs catching. I used two sheets of matt board (for framing pictures). Out of the first one I cut holes (and sanded the edges down). The second one is a regular sheet of matt board and the two are laminated with glue (archival-quality PVA to be precise). Before the board was covered with fabric the outside corners were rounded with sandpaper (all the edges were also smoothed out).
